Published sites and funnels: how visitor data is processed

Founders use Socialligator to publish websites, landing pages and funnels for their own products. This page explains what is measured and stored when you visit one of those pages.

1. Who is responsible

  • The founder who published the page is the data controller. They decide what is measured and what happens to the data. Their own privacy policy, when they publish one, applies first.
  • Socialligator is the data processor. We host the pages and process visitor data only on the founder's behalf. We never sell it and never use it for our own advertising or to train AI models.

2. What is measured

  • Page views and interactions: page address, referrer, time on page, scroll depth, clicked buttons and links, device type (mobile, tablet or desktop) and browser. With heatmaps on, the position of clicks on the page is recorded too.
  • Form submissions: what you type in a form you submit (for example your email address to receive a guide) is sent to the founder, who usually adds you to their contact list.
  • Unfinished forms: on some pages, what you typed in a form you started but did not submit can be saved when you leave a field or the page, so the founder can follow up. Fields that look like passwords or payment details are never captured.
  • Approximate location and network: the country, derived from your IP address. The cookieless analytics counts visitors with a hash of the IP address and browser that changes every day and cannot be reversed; the raw IP address is not stored with the analytics.
  • Sales attribution: if you buy, the purchase can be linked to the visit (source, campaign, landing page) so the founder knows which page earned it.
  • Ad platforms (optional): when the founder connects Meta or TikTok, page and conversion events can be sent to those platforms (their pixel and Conversions API).

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, the cookieless analytics drops your events.

3. Cookies and storage

  • gos_vid (cookie, 1 year): a random visitor identifier on funnel pages, used to count returning visitors and link a visit to a sign-up.
  • Split-test cookies (30 days): remember which version of a page you were shown so you always see the same one.
  • Browser storage: a random visitor identifier on published sites, a per-tab session reference, an analytics opt-out flag and the page version you saw.

Some published sites show a consent banner; what it controls is set by the founder.

4. Retention

Analytics events are deleted automatically after the founder's plan retention period (Free 180 days, Starter 1 year, Pro 2 years, Scale 5 years). Form submissions and contacts are kept until the founder deletes them or closes their account.

5. Where the data is processed

On our servers at Hetzner Online GmbH in the European Union. Pages published to Cloudflare Pages, and short links on the founder's domains, are served through Cloudflare.

6. Your rights

To access, correct or erase your data, contact the founder through their website. Requests that reach us at support@socialligator.com are forwarded to the founder.

Feedback hubs have their own notice: feedback hubs. For data about Socialligator's own customers (the founders), see our Privacy Policy.
